Its been a while since my last entry and I wasn't able to do the Fenland 10 as I managed to get a cancellation place for some surgery that I needed and was still recovering. In fact I did my first training session since the op, which was Tues the 26th Oct, last night.
The session was 20 x 200m with 30sec recovery, now if I'd started off at the right pace it probably wouldn't have hurt as much but I didn't and it did. There are only two of us road runners doing the track sessions which is noticeable as the others are track runners and are very fast. I didn't do them all as I had extra recovery instead as I felt it would be better for me to keep a good hard pace throughout. Not having trained for a while is a little more obvious when doing short sharp efforts on the track! I thought my lungs were going to burst at one point. I knew I should have done better but not being able to train consistantly for a little while now I also knew I'd suffer more.
I think these sessions are doing me good and as its the time of year when I also need some down time I'm not too set on achievements and results. This is my time to do other things and not really worry too much about results. I'm looking at doing some spinning and strength work over the next couple of months and will look into next seasons schedules towards the end of Dec.
I don't think a sub 01:25 is possible at St Neots later this month but I'm still hopeful of a pb of sub 01:28, that would mean a pb at all my distances this year :o)
I also want to get back to swimming this month too, especially as I have a triathlon training weekend coming up.
