XC season has started

Another week of training done, I did our club 10k on the track on Tues and learnt something new. 10k and 25 laps are not quite the same distance, especially if there's a lot of overtaking to be done. Instead of counting laps I decided to go by the distance on my garmin but after finishing was told I was a lap short :o(
I did however do 10k and it was in 37:57 so I'm not complaining, all I have to do is repeat the performance on the road.
I then did 4 x 5 mins fast with 4 mins slow on Wed followed by 5 mile easy on Thurs and 5 mile Saturday. Sunday was the club league race at St Neots which is a 5 mile xc race. After lots of rain during the week it turned out to be a fairly reasonable day, it rained a little but held off during the race and it was much warmer than I thought it was going to be. I started off slower with this one as I want to start practising negative splits more and while not easy the run did feel better. I did 33:10 with my legs still feeling a bit stiff from the 10k.

As this schedule goes on I'm thinking more and more that running 6 days a week is definitely not for me, I will continue the plan until St Neots Half marathon but then I will return to the triathlon way of training which includes only 3 days of running but also 4 of cycling and 3 of swimming. I really do feel like I need much more recovery when running so much.

My shoulder seems to be fine now so I will be back swimming very soon, maybe this week. Saturday brings the Men's Health Survival of the Fittest in Nottingham, I'm looking forward to that as I haven't done a rat race before and there will be a good number of RAF Tri members there.
